New Dab Radio

Post by joroma » Fri May 25, 2012 3:53 pm

Looking to fit a DAB radio in my Bongo. Thinking of going for a single DIN unit with bluetooth and the ability to plug in my ipod and have it charging while playing. Not critical to control ipod from radio controls as sometimes that is a bit fiddly. Any suggestions on a decent radio at a reasonable price??

Check out http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/. The best advice I can give is to get a decent antenna. I've tried the various glass mount jobs and the reception is rubbish. I've got one of the mag mounts now and it's brilliant. :D

I use a pure highway. Works fine and you can plug an iPod into
It via an audio lead.

radio is not so important. best advise is fit the best antena u can, moved my dab from golf with roof mount to bongo with glass mount. it was crap. so then went for an antena on the outside that sends a signal through the glass. this works fine as still have a good antena outside.

most important thing is good antena.

plus listen to planet rock

Kenwood KDC-DAB4551U been fitted for a few weeks and very pleased with it. DAB reception excellent with Kenwood windscreen aerial kit. Bit fiddly to use multi function knobs but I also bought the remote control for £12 so I can control the radio from the back of the van :) Bluetooth for phone good as well!!

This is exactly the same radio/setup I had in my Bongo. Worked really well in deepest Dorset ESP Planet Rock :D
