Where in Scotland shall we go next??
Looking for inspiration for our next weekend trip.
Has to be a nice grassy campsite and have a few Munros nearby so Donald can stride up them while me and the kids make camp.
Any suggestions??
p.s.
Already been to Glen Nevis campsite, Red Squirrel in Glencoe, Glen Brittle and Ardgarten in Arrochar (love the squirrel and Glen Brittle not so crazy about the other two).

Some folks in the village went to a campsite in/near Pitlochry with their two. Just googled and there are a few - not sure which one it was. Plenty to do round there with kids.mountainmummy wrote:Looking for inspiration for our next weekend trip.

Another idea we've had is the Comrie Croft Hostel.
If Donald is up for a walk on the Lomonds and Bishop Hill in Fife, then you could try the Pillars of Hercules.

How about somewhere around Shiel Bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh. Quite a few camping sites to pick from but I have only stopped at one, Adeleve Caravan & Camping park on the way back from the Western Islands with June, it was ok. But as you can guess the camp sites don't intrest me much as like Donald I was more intrested in the Munros.
If you stay around here Donald will be well placed for climbing the Forcan Ridge of the Saddle in Glen Sheil, returning by the way Sgurr Na Sgine giving two Munros in one go. The Start is from the roadside just east of the open cast quarry on the A87. Great climb / Scramble as it is one of the narrowest ridges on the mainland.

Pitlochry site - Fiskally
Also Grand Tully (Aberfeldy) but perhaps not so much for the kids on site.

Second for Glenmore/Loch Morlich with the wonderful Cairngorms on the doorstep.
Or................Gruinard Bay Campsite just south of Ullapool with the mighty An Teallach beconing. This is a remote and failry basic campsite but it has wonderful sunsets and grassy underfoot. The facilities are basic but clean. We have stayed there twice and would happily go back again. The fantastic beach at Melon Udrigle is nearby too.

Why?...........Because somebody might wave back.

How about this site north of Callander http://www.immervoulin-caravan-camping-park.co.uk/
It is handy for the West Highland Way and the MUNRO Inn is just up the road. I think there are Munro's around Lochearnhead & St Fillans. Beware of the midges.

Re: Where in Scotland shall we go next??
I drive past this campsite everytime I go to Red Squirrel. Never stopped there but it is a nice area, the campsite has grown a lot bigger since I was doing the munros around there 25 odd years ago.How about this site north of Callander http://www.immervoulin-caravan-camping-park.co.uk/
I can't say much for the nearby Munros though as I found them to be some of the most boring that I have done, well you have to tick them all off. The nearest two, Ben Vorlich and Stuck a Chroin have few redeaming futures while Ben Chronzie north of Comrie is redeamed by the large population of huge Mountain Hares which drove the black labrador I had at the time mad. He tried to catch them but they were four times faster.
It is possible to do the Ben More group from the south by taking the narrow single track road along Loch Voil past Rob Roy's grave but you will find them much easier if you take the usual route from Glen Dochart to the north. Best left for another day if you don't want a long drive.

Looks scary to me but Donald really likes the look of these two.
