Belated Happy 18th Muz Jr

Post by Muzorewa » Sun Jul 08, 2012 10:01 am

Jr was 18 back in February but with exams & such it’s not been possible to organise the ‘treat’ he’d asked for. Yesterday it all came together and I was required to transport three of them to England’s only mountain forest and the Whinlatter Forest altura mountain biking trails.

These trails are highly regarded and they were advised not to use their own bikes, but to hire good ones from the site. So they hired three German Cube bikes – bikes were never like this when I was a kid, these ones had 27 gears, suspension and hydraulic disc brakes

An early start (surprise surprise) to get there for first thing :D

I might as well make myself comfortable for the day 8)

They took about 2 hours to do the first ‘intermediate level’ trail....

....then another two hours for one of the advanced trails....

Image
....one dropped out leaving only two to do the second advanced trail....

Bongo – ideal support vehicle for this type of thing!!

Jr then did the intermediate trail on his own for a second time – in 30 minutes :?

Only six crashes to report (only two of them requiring medical attention  ) and no damaged bikes. We then made our way home via one of the best chippies in the land, Arnside Chip Shop for some stunning fish & chips. All in all, a great day out!!

How refreshing to see that Jr and his mates obviously enjoyed the treat in a beautiful environment.

Some years ago an ex-girlfriend, who turned out not share the same goals as me, hired a stretch limo to take her 18 year old and his mates to Catford dog track for the evening. Not at my expense, I hasten to add.
