Oil filter change - Washer?

Post by 2newbies » Wed Jul 25, 2012 9:01 pm

Just getting ready for our first oil change, bought an oil filter from the bongo shop but no oil sump washer... any ideas where we can get one from? :?:

Thanks!

You rarely get a washer with the filter unless you order one seperately. They can be re-used normally without any prep, although some people heat them up to anneal them which softens them up. I don't have the size to hand, but I think it's a standard size for Mazda / Ford, so a local dealer or Halfords should be able supply one for a couple of quid.

I did get some Comline branded filters (these have a large body-some compatibles have smaller bodies but are fine) from Mazdabongoshop on the 'net and they had sump washers taped to the base of the filter..... ordering some more after my holiday,so it will be interesting to see if the same still applies...

I ducked this in the end by using a pela pump, removing the need to remove the sump plug. I know I go on about them like a scratched record, but for me at least it had made the job completely hassle free.

Same as Mike.

I use a Pela for the intermediate oil change then have the garage do an annual service.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Oooh get her ha ha. They don't call you Posh Bob the Well Heeled Knob for nothing. Hope you are both well and please never sell the Bongo. :-)

Having done 45 oil changes since we got our Bongo, I can heartily recommend the convenience of a Pela pump
