- I open the window.
Then it will not go up again unless I leave the vehicle for say 10 mins.
Turn of ignition an go for a cuppa.
I return and turn on ignition (just to radio not engine or both) and the window goes up. It's like it charges up or something?
Is it my window switch or the window?

Is it my window switch or the window?
I have had a recurring problem with my driver window going up for nearly a year. I thought it might be the switch but it works sometimes like this.

Re: Is it my window switch or the window?
Its normally the wiring loom where it leads from the chassis into the drivers door, the wires break and you get intermittent operation. Do search there are plenty of pictures and references to the problem and solutions!

Yep, no mystery... I'd have to agree with Geoff. When you moved the door to get yer "cuppa" the loom wire reconnected..?!! Common fault.. See here... http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=57231

Thanks for the advice gang. What should I do about the wiring loom, take it into the local bongo mechanic or is it something I could look at myself.
Not brilliant with electrics but ok with small fixes.

What is the harness? And is there any posts on repairing or fitting one?

Re: Is it my window switch or the window?
The harness is a collection of wires complete with all the grommets and connectors and fixings to attach to all the electrical systems in the door. The connectors are in the drivers footwell, there are two pairs of connectors which snap together. Remove the crescent shaped plastic trim from the footwell to find them. It is best to poke these out between the wing and the door while you connect and disconnect. Take off the door card, remove or cut a flap in the polythene if present and take a photo of the old harness. This will be useful to get all the popper fixings in the right place they are swines if you get one in the wrong hole (how do I know this?). The harness operates the mirrors, the windows, the central locking if fitted and the speaker. Apart from the above fitting it is self explnatory. I wouldn't personally use the hard plastic clip again on the hinge as that is what knackers the harness in the first place, I anchored my harness to it with a loop of self amalgamating tape.fidel21 wrote:What is the harness? Just strip the casing off the harness and you'll probably find the thick, black earth wire is the offending item - simple repair

Re: Is it my window switch or the window?
Hi, I have the same problem in that my drivers window goes all the way down on a single press and won'y generally come back up until key out of ignition then back in a minute or so later when window goes charging all the way up without me even touchingh the switch.
Did it turn out to be your switch or wiring? My switch looks worn but reluctant to shell out £50 before checking.
Thanks, Sam

However....I had similar symptoms and it turned out to be the drivers side switch. So don't rule it out
