'heat' warning light remains on - petrol engine

Post by [email protected] » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:33 pm

The 'heat' light on the right hand side of our dashboard remains on when the car is on.

We did have a similar thing with the airbag light a year or so ago (that the mechanic dealt with by disabling the warning light rather than fixing the airbag). As such, I am wondering whether it is the electrics rather than a real error but would like some reassurances or suggestions as to what could be at fault.

"Disabling the warning light rather than fixing the air bag".

Be careful .. that maybe a failure he next time you take it in for an MOT ..

What sort of engine have you got?

As Mike says, removing the airbag light is very likely to result in 'reason for refusal' of an MOT certificate under the new regulations. At the end of the day, the airbags are there to reduce injury or save a life in the event of an accident so need to be in working order.

Must be a petrol V6 or 2ltr with a heat warning light. This is a catalyst or lambda sensor problem. It is possible but rare to have a warning light problem and then the light is usually intermittent due to bad contact.
