V6 Starting Problem
I experienced this problem for the first time this morning. I have a 10 year old V6 Petrol imported into the UK last year - converted by JAL. Temperature outside was about -5 degrees and when I turned on ignition the low coolant warning sounded and then just a click from the ignition and nothing more. I tried a couple more times with same result, so had to take my car add I was in a rush. When I got home I thought I would try starting once more before taking the battery out to put it on charge. The low coolant warning made a slightly funny noise, engine turned over a little sluggishly and she (Bonnie
) started. I gave her a run for about 30 mins via the Petrol station and thought I would try again tomorrow morning when the engine is cold and the temperature is very low again. Just thought I would sound out if anyone has had a similar problem and maybe found the cause and a resolution, as it seems a bit of a mystery? It obviously was'nt a flat battery as I initially thought as the engine restarted fine when I left the Petrol station, which is only two minutes up the road, so she hadn't even warmed properly or recharged a nearly flat battery. Thanks on any thoughts

Re: V6 Starting Problem
Could be the battery if it was -5°C in the morning it was probably a bit warmer by the afternoon. Batteries loose the ability to provide a lot of charge at low temperatures, but will regain it once the temperature returns to "normal" just a few degrees make a lot of difference. However it s not a bad idea to give it a charge overnight at least, as charging is also poor at low temperatures, so you my not have got as much in as you think even with a 30 minute run.

Re: V6 Starting Problem
definitely sounds like its time for a replacement battery. A 30 minute run is more than enough to replace the energy used in starting, plus as it was warmed up it will turn over much easier than when cold. Have a look on here the Bosch S4 from Euro Car Parts which you can usually pick up for under £80 with suitable promo code.

Re: V6 Starting Problem
Maybe also a starter motor issue. The click may have been the solenoid engaging but the starter motor did not move. This may have been because the battery was lacking oomph or the starter is beginning to show signs of old age. Top up your battery with a decent charger which will help in the cold weather and see if that helps. If it continues to be a problem you might be in new battery territory and/or reconditioned starter if new battery does not help.
I hope this helps.
