Waeco MS50 Cruise Control Not Working

Post by Longo » Thu Apr 25, 2013 12:06 pm

Hi folks. Quick query having searched the forums unsuccessfully.

Had this fitted by a local auto electrics specialist without incident, cursing or recriminations even though he's never seen one before.
Everything works as it should in test mode although the revs pick up very, very slowly.
On the road the lights come on but there's no response. Nothing happens.

Vacuum checked. Pulses checked. Wiring triple checked. Everything working fine.
Rang a couple of local garages with Bongo expertise. They hadn't seen one either & this is Cornwall!

Is there a quirk one needs to address or is it as simple as just snipping the black loop? Loath to do it as it seems so... final.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated by me & the frustrated & puzzled specialist!

Thanks

Tim

Yes, you need to snip the black wire otherwise the pulse frequency is too slow & it does not detect you are going fast enough. Also set sensitivity switch to M.

Thanks Simon

We used your fitting instructions... So think it was set to M. I'll check.
We also took it out with the wiring diverted to a meter reader, don't ask me what it read, I was driving. My fitter was happy there was sufficient pulse going through & that it increased with acceleration?

Should I just bite the bullet & snip!

Anything snipped can be rejoined.

Set to H. Changed to M.
No joy.
A bracing cup of strong tea & I'll sally forth with the cutters.

You still around then? Thought you'd sold your Bongo to someone who doesn't wave

I take it you don't have an instruction book for the MS50? Any more problems, give me a shout and you can borrow mine (although I'm not sure how useful the book is against the usefulness of folk on the forum)

PS Cruise control useless in Cornwall!!!

Hi Alison
Haven't had much use out of the Bongo due to circumstances beyond my control etc etc. I'd be amazed if you've seen me out & about as I only did 500 miles in it last year
Hopefully I'll be doing a bit more now.

Hope all is well in your part of the world. Has it got any noisier of an evening?
All sorted with the Waeco thanks.
