Air Duct Lever (Under Bonnet)

Post by PinkPanther » Fri May 17, 2013 9:27 pm

Hi All,
just been checking out an under bonnet problem and came across a lever on the side of the air duct. This air duct has two positional settings and some instructions in Japanese...........yep its all dutch to me

Can anyone advise me further? The lever was in position 1 (internal deflectors closed/down) and is in position 2 in the photograph (internal deflectors open/up).

I have had problems on longer trips 1.5 hrs plus, where the heater functions initially ok and then later begins to blow out cool/cold air. I don't have any overheating issues, although the problem I was investigating turns out to be a minor radiator leek (steam comes out when hot) and I have minor coolant loss. So the radiator leak aside, does the deflector position affect the function of my digital temp/air con control? It is a 2.5 V6, 10 years old. Any help much appreciated
