Hold Light Flash codes

Post by nth » Fri Jan 10, 2014 3:19 pm

Just looking for some help deciphering my hold light fault codes.
First some background on it, The van had a chipped speedo since I got it a few months ago but I always noticed the needle would sometimes flicker up & down when driving and it over read by approx 9mph according to GPS, I decided removing the chip would be a good excuse to fit some plasma dials so fitted the dials last week, removed the speedo chip & reinstated the original wiring.
I drove the van for the first time since removing the chip yesterday & for the first 10 miles the speedo was working great & now only over reading by around 5mph, after the 10 miles the speedo flickering problem was intermittantly worse than before, so bad sometimes that it was dropping straight to zero from 50mph almost as soon as you press the brakes. Later on in the journey just for a split second caught a glimpse of the hold light but it went out straight away (my hand was nowhere near the hold button on the gear lever).
The box still operated normal & have done around 50 miles since this happened.
so I did the fault reading procedure as per the fact sheet & just looking for some help deciphering the flash codes. Ive done a video of the flash codes here > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb59s6mu ... e=youtu.be
Just looking for opinions of what you translate the fault codes as although it is kind of looking like a road speed sensor fault. Seems to be 7 fast 1 slow 6 fast ??
Also the ATF fluid level is correct & the oil nice & clean.

Might be two codes...

0 long + 7 short
1 long + 6 short

I don't know, I'm afraid.

Does sound like dodgy speed sensor on gearbox, or poor connection. The location differs between 2WD & 4WD, but here's a photo from one of them:

Tricky to find 2nd hand as they often break when being extracted from the alloy casing.

Any idea how much new or anywhere apart from Mazda that supplies them new ? Had a quick look in the shop but didn't see them.

Not sure. Just a had a search and drew a blank. I know I located one at Southern Bongos a while back for another member, but it was Kevin there who advised me that they can be tricky to remove sucessfully. Ideally, you need to find someone who's breaking a van and is happy to split parts of the gearbox. Worth trying some of the usual breakers who are mentioned on the forum.
