Foglight fuse

Post by anucatone » Sat Mar 01, 2014 10:09 pm

Can anybody suggest which fuse a rear retro-fitted foglight usually uses? I have just fitted one to the existing wiring (last one got knocked off) but it doesn't work and I need to check fuse before anything else.

The "on" light on the foglight button does actually come on when switched but the light itself does not illuminate.

I think it may be an inline fuse attached to the rear fog light switch itself, if your fog light switch is situated next to your front fog light switch then you should be a able to access the fuse by removing the small cover underneath the steering wheel ( two screws ) :?:

Thank you.

I don't have a front foglight as it's not a legal requirement. Just the one switch for the rear. I'll have a look behind the switch. Am I wrong to think if it was the fuse then the switch wouldn't illuminate in the 'on' position

If the fuse is after the switch, then the warning light will still come on. I'd be surprised if you've even got a fuse as most converters who install them use the cheapest and simplest option. Certainly I never found fuses in either of my Bongos.

I think you're going to have to trace the wiring and check for breaks or poor connections. Might be worth checking the earth connection by the lamp first as it is likely to be a short piece of wire connected to a self tapping screw on the bodywork which may be exposed to corrosion.
