Rear seats to bed alternative?

Post by Brassbullethead » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:14 pm

Hi guys,

I bought my first Bongo last week and have only just joined BongoFury, so forgive me if this is an obvious question

I have a side conversion with the original gull-wing style seats at the back. In order to make it into the bed, the rear seats fold back and then we have a large square mattress-like thing on metal legs that fits into the gap between the sink unit and the passenger side wall.

This big square thing, however, is tremendously heavy and pretty much fills the boot when stored. It is way to big to go under the seats.

On vehicle where everything else is so beautifully designed to fit into exact spaces, this is a bit of a pain.

Does anyone know if there is an alternative that folds up smaller or that can fit under the seats?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

By side conversion I'm assuming you mean you have a cooker/sink unit behind the driver's seat, then the original side folding seats? If so it's the same as mine but I have a rear facing 3/4 width seat behind the passenger seat/engine tunnel, this pulls out and makes a bed in conjunction with the rear seats when they're folded flat.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your responses

I have found an inflatable bed that fits exactly in the gap between the back seats and front seats and the kitchen uints and the sliding door for £32 on Amazon

It's quite small when deflated and takes up much less space that the bed extension.

cheers
