Front Indicator bulbs

Post by Jabba's Wheels » Thu Apr 03, 2014 6:30 pm

Hi everyone, just been topping up the washer bottle and bits of minor maintenance under the bonnet on a 2000 model when I noticed that getting in to change bulbs is very awkward :( (I'd previously faffed around a lot trying to replace dipped and main beam). Looking at the front indicators - it seems that these are nigh on impossible without performing major surgery

I looked through some very old posts and it seems that the answer is something along the lines of - removing the radiator grill, followed by taking out the whole light unit. #-o Surely someone must have done this in the last couple of years.

Am I missing something - or is this about right? :?

No idea what is different about 2000 models, but it is nothing like that on 1998 models - easy peasy 5 minute job there.

PS Ahh.... just thought are the indicators in with the headlamp unit?

If so - that's what's known as "progress"

Thanks for that - yep it's progress (of sorts). :?

On a slightly different note - I'm toying with the idea of fitting a remote control central locking kit. Anyone know where the flasher relay is tucked away? :?:

Thanks in anticipation.

You can find the location of all the relays etc on the Bongo Wiring Manuals.

Here

Firstly select the manual for your age of vehicle, then from the contents select "Turn & Hazard Light" - this will give you the circuit diagram. (For a 1995, the Turn signal wiring is P74. Flasher is Unit F1-01 in the middle).

On the page showing any circuit, the next page gives you the locations.

F1-01 is in the kick-panel by the driver's right foot.

The easiest option is probably to remove the headlamp unit.

And the flasher unit 66830B.If you switch on the flashers you should be able to hear it.

Removing the headlamp should take no more than 5 or 10 mins & is a pretty simple job (see some photos I took): http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... lb#p614621

Thanks Simon, yep it wasn't that hard.

Most surprising was the lack of clips on the radiator grille. Took one screw out and it fell off  That's previous ham-fisted owners for you! After that it was a breeze.
