Aircon again

Post by dante231 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:17 pm

OK, So I am getting a bit obsessed with this aircon. I have an aircon specialist coming to have a look soon. However , I think I might have found the link.

There is bubbling some from around the viewing glass for the aircon. Does anyone know if this would be a part issue or could be fixed with an o ring.

Looks like air in the system (needing charged), best leave it to your aicon specialist

OK thanks. But if it is charged, will it just not lose pressure again?

Yep, if its got a leak it will lose pressure. Your aircon specialist will test it for leaks before he refills the system.

Typically it is tested by filling with nitrogen to up to 200 psi and monitoring the pressure for a little while. This will pick up a big leak, but mine passed this test and then gradually lost pressure over a few months so it's not inflatable.

The test will only tell you the condition of the system when the test is done, unfortunately it cant tell you that it is not going to leak a few month down the line.

Your aircon expert will probably explain this when he comes.

Best method is to put a UV dye in the sytem then any leaks stand out when viewed with a Ultra Violet lamp.

The refrigerant/oil tends to be bright green (almost fluorescent in colour) so it's very easy to see any leaks.

Yes I get that there is a leak. My question though is...

I think the leak is coming from here.

There are fluorescent bubbles coming from the bit around the viewing glass.

According to the schematics, this is the liquid tank. And it looks like there is a replacement for the viewing glass.

Has anyone changed this part? I don't to shell out for an aircon person who will basically say 'sorry I don't have the part' etc.

Thanks

Does anyone think that this can be fixed? or does it require a new part?
