Why would a blown head gasket have anything to do with a knackered engine :?
A blown head gasket could be a cracked head - we really need more info about the problems you've experienced.

Also put your location in your profile - there may well be someone local who could help you 8)

If you're in Wigan, get Wheelquick to have a look 8) - they are very good and reasonable.
It may be that the cooling system wasn't fully bled, although I'm surprised if it went for 200 miles without overheating :?

I think that you should probably be glad you are in Wigan.

Definitely at a huge advantage over those of us in the metropolis where I have yet to be convinced there are any garages who know much about Bongos.

A failed head gasket is one of several causes of pressure in the system, but it's not the only reason. You say it overheated and then a hose failed? It would make more sense if the hose failed first resulting in coolant loss and then overheating. Whether the rest of the engine is damaged will depend on how hot it got and how long it was driven for. Did you have a low coolant alarm which alerted you to the problem?

As others have said, you're lucky to have Wheelquick in your area so give them a call for advice. Probably best not to drive it until they have given you further guidance.
