Help! I need somebody....not just anybody....

Post by Dizzy-Dots » Tue Jun 09, 2015 10:10 pm

...I need someone who knows what my Jonnie is trying to tell me!

His Sediment light just came on and his charge light and his temperature gauge went up

Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Great to hear from you after all this time Dizzy though sorry its cos you have problems. Sounds like your fan belts may have gone. That would cause alternator to stop charging and water pump to stop turning. Don't drive it until new belts fitted. Thats my guess anyway. Keep us posted.

Are the lights on, or flashing a code?

As Mike says, great to hear from you. :D

Got to agree with Mike above, did you drive it far before stopping ?

Nope - noise came and lights came on just down the road from home - didn't even stop at the chip shop #starving

....I just posted a reply to you, but it seems to have disappeared! Still as Dizzy as ever!

Are fan belts easy to change? Do I need a mechanic? My garage is 15 miles away :?

Fairly easy DIY, definitely don't drive 15 miles.

Do you have 'Home Start' or similar?

Otherwise maybe a mobile mechanic if you can't do it.

Maybe source / buy a set of belts yourself from the right source, to make sure you get the right belts for the Bongo (they should have the right vee profile I believe or can damage the crank pulley). Meanwhile (assuming you're not into DIY fitting and unless you have breakdown home cover who might come and fit them, but I wonder if they'd use enough TLC if they did) source a local mobile mechanic and ask if they can do it. They shouldn't charge much if they know what they're doing.

You guys are geniuses!

The AA man has just been and it was the fan belts! One is missing (!) and one slipped off...

He's done a temporary repair for me to be able to take it to my garage :)

Thanks sooooooo much for your help

Excellent result Dizzy............soon you can get back to normal Bongoing, if there is such a thing

Maybe get all three belts done at the same time for peace of mind? (the 3rd one is the aircon compressor belt - mine went recently, which is why I mention it).
