Which leisure battery
Hi All I need a new LB and from what I rememeber from about four years back, I had a devil of a job to find a 100ah LB that had the right terminal format and fitted in the tray I ended up with one which is 190 mm H x 175 mm W and 350mm L. Really, it was far too long and high and I had to jam it in. It is a nightmare to 'lever out' which I know from my mechanic who had to fit a new rear screen pump for me and I suppose you all know what that entails.
I've spent about two hours this morning trawling the web with no luck. So, would anyone know the whereabouts of such a LB? I suppose I could go down in AH's but with the Waeco, TV and stereo etc. . . . It would need type 1 terminal layout with the + on the front right hand side but when in place the + is at the back on the left.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated.
PS the last couple of years has seen our 'Old Gal' sail through MOT's and with only the usual consumables to replace - really chuffed
Regards Pete

Re: Which leisure battery
Hay Pete,
I just fitted a 120ah AGM from advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk £75 with 4 year warranty. Normal price is £95 cash, but I traded two 110's which weren't holding charge.
I've had countless motorcycle batteries off him over the years & found them great to work with.
Tight squeeze, but worth the effort. He can supply terminals either side & can provide batteries with Japanese size terminals.
Happy hunting.

Re: Which leisure battery
Hi Roy, can you remember the make or code number, and is AGM a make or a type?

Re: Which leisure battery
Just checked, it' badged up by them as Advanced Battery Supplies lp120. Supposedly 830 coca & 120 ah.
Their battery boutique is in Stockport, but they send all over the place.

Re: Which leisure battery
AGM = Advanced Glass Mat, in other words a sealed lead acid battery, rather than free battery acid between plates, a glass fibre Mat holds the battery acid so less evaporation and thiner gaps between plates.

Re: Which leisure battery
The above is the standard starter battery layout, my leisure battery has +itive left front and -ative right front, so the earth strap goes straight to the inner wing and the +itive goes straight to the relay and then to the +itive on the starter battery and the terminals stay at the front.Observer wrote: It would need type 1 terminal layout with the + on the front right hand side but when in place the + is at the back on the left.

This is what I would use...........

That price is all inc. P&P the lot.
I've always had excellent service from Alpha Batteries.
Re: Which leisure battery
Thanks again Roy, when you say a tight squeeze, what dimensions are your choice of LB? I find any more than 350mm long and it's a serious 'honey moon fit'928uk wrote:Hay Pete,

Re: Which leisure battery
Thanks everyone I've gone for this :-

at 5mm shorter, and the right terminal layout for me & the rest of dimensions are the same, I would'nt mind a few more Ah's but .....
thanks again

Re: Which leisure battery
Weird or what?
Before new LB arrived I removed old one tied all leads up out of the way and drove off. Immediate observations:- lots of warning lights came on dash e.g. door light, starter coil stayed on for ages, and another couple, can't remember which. I then noticed the central locking would'nt work i.e. with key or fob button.
At this as I have a Wilinton kit fitted after my short trip I disconnected the crank battery + lead, the one before the VS relay and guess what,? Still the same. I was a tad worried by now. Next day new LB arrived so I fitted it and guess what? All back to normal.
Any ideas just for the record?

Re: Which leisure battery
When you added the LB you also swapped over 4 circuits from the old fusebox, the top left fuse is the backup and power to the ECU and central door locking functions, without the LB present none of those things will work happily!

Ah, now I remember thanks . . . . doesn't explain the Glow plug coil light though or is it also involved?g8dhe wrote: you also swapped over 4 circuits from the old fusebox

Re: Which leisure battery
The ECU reports that it hasn't got backup power hence the glowplug light flashing showing the normal error status.
