Bongo been in for a health check :(

Post by conmai » Sun Jul 19, 2015 8:25 pm

Hi all,

A couple of normal issues to sort, 2 new front brake discs and a rear and middle exhaust pieces, but I also need a new rear prop shaft and an inner drive shaft seal, there was oil everywhere underneath, I think it's the N/S/F diff?

Does anyone have any recommendations on where best to get the seal and rear prop shaft?

My baby is a 97 2.5D 4WD

Kind Regards,

on top of the diffs both back and front, and the transfer box, is a little thimble type breather, when the oil gets hot it expands, if this is blocked like most are the increase in pressure blows a seal where ever it can, usually freeing up the breather is enough and the seal is good again, worth a try as its cheap.
the thimble filter should screw round and lift slightly, most are rusted shut or painted or undersealed closed.
