Quite common for the roof not to raise fully. Have to tried giving it a helping hand by standing inside and pushing up while you press the lift button?

As mikeonb4c says, common problem. Quite a few possible causes. If the roof takes much longer than about 25 seconds to reach the top I would say it is "struggling" for some reason. Most covered in the following link, skip past the broken motor discussions for starters

Think there is a couple of micro switches on the roof runners
The wheels runners activate these when fully open
Make sure it's fully opening and hitting the micro switches
Could be just a faulty micro switch
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Yes I think that's commonly what brings the problem out, especially in cold weather when the tenting is less stretchy and the electrics may be more sluggish.
