Plenty of very good wild camping north of the border to help offset costs.

Re: Thermostat housing gasket
its the double wire one im afraid, the single wire one is just for the temp gauge mate , sorry.
but if you get the bloke to service your boiler at home you would make sure the safety bits are all checked and the controllers too.

I can't think any independent car place uses anything other than Jubilee clips on hoses in this town. Cycled round (in the rain) all motor parts shops in the town, all two of them, and both looked at me as if I was from Mars when I asked for constant tension hose clips, spring or worm drive, like Norma. Maybe it was the cycle helmet

Re: Thermostat housing gasket
Had whole housing assembly off. Obviously removing dipstick attachment was a must. With alternator and hoses removed access was a doddle. The Ford housing gasket was perfect.
One thing, most spigots were caked in black stuff up to where the clamp/hose was tight which is smooth and shiny. At first I thought it was corrosion but it was actually a hard black coloured build up which I scraped off and rubbed down with a very fine pad to reveal fine pitting in the aluminium. Hope they will all seal properly with the new hoses (and clamps!).
