New Electric Blinds Made

Post by Mark Elvin » Sun Jan 18, 2015 8:46 pm

Spurred on by our success with the seats of the Bongo - http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... lit=+seats

we thought we'd have a go at making some alternative electric blinds.

This involved dissecting some old blinds off a scrapper & glue/sewing to replicate the originals, but in a superior material, that gives far lower light transition & is thermal also. It was bought from a roller blind company, normally used to make blackout insulation blinds.

Once again we have surprised ourselves.

Once the floor is down we will thankfully be nearly finished. Apart from a respray, just in time for the weather to improve hopefully

Hi, they look great!
could you make me a set in black?
I only need 3 as I'm fitting a shelf to the n/s rear window. Happy to pay.

Thanks

Did the old blind material come off no problem Mark, Ive got a set in the garage that I (the wife) might have a go at. I have a set of electric ones, mine are manual I'm hoping the wiring is there already.

Hi there

Were new to all this and have just bought our first Bongo. Yay!
The blinds are pretty filthy but the electric mechanism works well.
I've made blinds in the house before, so thinking of giving it a go. How hard can it be??!
How easy is it to get the blinds out? Do I need to get a professional in?
Thanks in advance! :)

The material comes off the roller really easily, the mechanism required the interior trim to be removed. Not diffucult, just jolly time consuming.

Some questions

1. What material are they?
2. Where did you source it?
3. Who cut it and sewed it?
