Disconnect the battery, give it a while, then take the rubber bungs out of the back of the wheel, here you'll see the bolts 10mm IIRC. Have them off and then the airbag lifts off. Once off you'll see the clock spring.
Disconnect the airbag, add the resistor and see, or it might be clear the clock spring has been caught and damaged (probable). Dont be tempted to put a multimeter across the terminals of the airbag - I read that minimal voltage could set it off.
Not as daunting as it sounds is pretty simple.
Drop me a pm if the airbag is faulty.

Re: Flashing airbag, after cambelt!
Thanks for the tips Spencer, will be giving it a go tomorrow morning. I really hope it is something obvious. It's not long till my MOT so I can see this getting costly if I have to give to someone else to sort, if I run out of time!

Re: Flashing airbag, after cambelt!
Just a follow up, solved the issue. It was a slightly dislodged connector on the crash sensor just in front of the gearstick. Thanks for all the top tips. I still might have the steering wheel off to straighten it! Can't find any corresponding connector under the seat for the seat belt warning. Job for another day.

How do you take the airbag off to check?Spencer54 wrote:You could pop the airbag off and check the connections are OK? A £1 3.3ohm resistor from Maplins can be put across the terminals as this is what the sensor is looking for. If that shuts it up then you know the fault is with the airbag?
