Close call with a bridge

Post by sotal » Fri Jun 17, 2016 12:16 am

I've managed to train my brain to always watch out for barriers on the way into car parks with the Bongo.

However I've never put much thought into bridges. I was driving along the other day and there was a low bridge ahead, it was narrow in the middle and one of those where you have to give way to oncoming traffic, as it was clear I put my foot down and went through. On the way out I suddenly thought about how close it looked!

I looked in the rear view mirror and thought it said 2.4m - however I've just checked on Google Maps and it looks like it is 2.6m.

A quick measure of the Bongo with the roof rack and roof box on (as it was) is just over 2.5m (maybe more in the centre) - so it was much closer than I would like!

Think I will be avoiding that route from now on!

That must have been frightening.

My only thought for avoiding it is that I put my foot down to go through and it dips a little so felt like it dropped a little on the suspension!

Maybe it won't next time???

I'm sure it probably would be fine but to avoid it isn't hard, just changes which side street I come out of onto the main road.

You could go to Settings on your Satnav and tick the box that says Avoid Bongo Unfriendly Roads?
