Euro 6 compliant

Post by apapa » Tue Jul 12, 2016 7:03 pm

The Mayor of London wants to extend the low emissions zone to include the area that I live in. Does anybody know if it is possible to make a bongo Euro 6 compliant?

All versions of the Bongo are compliant, however because it's an import its not in the database so you have to tell them! Do a search for emmisions zone and I think you find the relevant info to send on to them!

Geoff is correct in saying that diesel Bongos are currently exempt from TfL's LEZ charges. However, Mr Khan's proposals are that there will be an Ultra LEZ for central London and no diesel vehicles will be allowed at all unless they meet strict criteria. The Bongo does not meet these standards.

It is also proposed to extend the current LEZ to the North and South Circular roads, but as it stands this will not affect private diesel vehicles, or campervans under 3.5 tonnes.

When the original LEZ was introduced there was some concern about the impact on diesel Bongos, and we established that it would cost about £1,800 to install the filters etc to make them compliant to Euro 5 standards.

I suggest that we sit back and wait for the conclusions of the current consultative exercise. But it has to be said that the future for diesel Bongos in London and other large UK cities is bleak.

Oh thanks for the update on that Ian, hadn't realised that they were discussing making it that difficult!

Thanks for the info. I live within the North Circular and very rarely drive into central London so hopefully I will be ok.

I should also say that I have two young children so it is good to try and make the air cleaner for them.

If I have read the consultation document correctly he wants to extend the ULEZ to cover all areas within the north and south circular. That will effect My Bongo. I see nothing in the consultation about exemptions for camper vans.

Although if you aren't making frequent urban trips then you shouldn't feel too guilty. Health risk is more influenced by frequency than efficiency.

You are correct. I've just read the consultation document, and Khan's proposal is to implement Ultra LEZ in Central London a year early (2019) and extend it out to the North & South Circulars a year later.

Although diesel Bongos and all campervans under 3.5 tones are exempt from LEZ, they will not be exempt from Ultra LEZ. Time to buy a petrol Bongo if you live in London I reckon.

It always staggers me how somehow petrol engines do not seem to emit any harmful emissions.
Sit in a petrol car and connect a hosepipe to your exhaust and you are dead in seconds, but do the same in a diesel and you may just develop a cough.

Just what is going on with this "only diesels emit any nasties" campaign.

I know which exhaust I'd rather stand behind.

Hi
I shouldn't worry about emissions, we'll all die of frustration trying to read documents like that one in Ady's link with the new-style wordiferization for the Microsoft generation which tends to reduce English to Gibberish, thus making the paperwork illegible ....plus the fact that the increase in obesity is likely to whittle the population to the extent that cars will be too small for people to get in and drive, thus reducing pollution ....that and the undisputed fact that humans will die out soon ( according to recent reportiferizations in newsprint ).....
Ah, there's one thing that will stop it all.....COMMUNISM....ideally tailored to keep the peasants down, and too poor to drive cars and eat too much.....Beggar the current politics, just go Communist!
Cheers
