Leisure Battery for Friendee

Post by janecliff » Tue Jul 12, 2016 8:56 pm

Hi all, I've just bought my first Bongo camper and I need to replace the LB - it's currently only 8v :( Sorry, couldn't resist that.
I'm not sure what specs to go for (old one is 80Ah).
Also, the terminal clamps are stuck. If/when I sort this out, would you recommend 'easy release' ones?
Thanks, I'm afraid I feel a little lost when it comes to maintenance but I'm hoping to learn.

Best is to measure the size of the tray and depth you can fit in, note that the bonnet strengthening arms do have "holes" to allow for terminals projecting up a bit as well!. Then find the largest capacity LB that will fit that size, if you want to use tested ones then this site is quite good http://thencc.org.uk/Our_Schemes/ncc_ve ... cheme.aspx for identifying the best (read expensive)!

A search in the forum (option top right) will give lots of buying options and varying views. Many sources, capacities and qualities but several have bought from the Enduroline range (e.g. EXV100) from Tayna.

Once sorted out the max dimensions as per Geoff's post you will need to think about capacity. General advice here is "as big as possible". In reality it depends on what you run off the LB. If you run a fridge and don't use leccy hook ups then defo bigger the better (110Ah, maybe more). If you only run a light and some phone chargers or always camp with leccy hook up then a smaller capacity is fine. I'm a lights, music, phones and tablet without EHU user and survived with a 60Ah for years though I now have a 90Ah. Still run the engine when SWMBO brings out the hair straighteners.

Hope that helps.
