Cubby hole switch mod

Thought I'd share the latest mod to the Bongo.



Solar panel display in middle, internal and external temperature and switches for front and rear fogs, scavenger fan, aux fan and a couple of spares.

I'd like to claim all the credit however the real skills are down to the father in law!

Very neat and tidy job roosmith. Could I be a bit cheeky and ask if you have a template and fitting advice please? This is a little job I have been meaning to get round to. I thought maybe a couple of those magnetic cabinet door catches might hold it all in place?? Kind Regards.

Tanglefoot - I don’t have the template I’m afraid, we just did it on card (and then used it for epoxy mixing!). I cut it to rough size then pressed onto the edge of the lip and just kept cutting from there. It is made from 2 layers of 3mm ply, one goes over the edge and one sits inside the cubby hole. When you look closer at the cubby hole that should make more sense! As you suggest I used heavy duty magnetic door catches, one top and one bottom. I was planning on 2 on the sides as well but ran out of room with the switches however they are very strong and they weren’t needed anyway, it is never going to move, you have to lever it off with a screwdriver as it is.

Cmm303 – the covering is vinyl bought from Bury market for a couple of quid for something like 2 metres squared, ridiculous value but I’m sure you can find online. Contact adhesive was used to fix to the front then cut, stretched and glued round the back.

Another idea for material to use to make the panel is a spare table back from a middle bench seat. That way you can use matching plastic. Not my idea but one I remember seeing somewhere, probably on here somewhere.

A few months ago I saw another old prominent pimper's destictive blue van up for sale.. It was Dave's?!

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be in the process of "tricking out" a flashy 02 plate.. Lol, I've forgotten half the stuff I did on my old 95er!
