Did they ok the mod or simply hike up your premium, A lot of Insurance Companies (most)see this as a Unroadworthy condition, in the event of a Claim they will deem the policy as invalid.

Good Luck.
What you're really saying here is an awful lot of owners need to be telling their insurance company what wheels ant tyres they have since many were either imported with non standard wheels or else had them fitted by the importing dealer to raise appeal. Interesting too that we've had reports of tyre garages fitting inadequately rated tyres on the Bongos of trusting owners. We have quite a can of worms here?

I will try and remember to check with my insurance company though i think i may have advised them years back. I'm hopeful they'll simply want them declared. I might try and ask on behalf of all Bongo (and other import?) owners.

Yes I would be very interested to know if your or anybody else's "Insurance Company " accepted these modifications or been refused. The problem with some types of refusals it can Hike up the renewals for at least the next 4/5 years.
I know of a driver that unfortunately got caught in this trap and the premium went from £350 to quotes of £1700 +. #-o
The Tom Tom /Bongo Drums start to beat.

If approval is granted from the "Insurance Company" make sure its in Stone.

Good Luck

Well , I have just phoned my insurer and was told that I have two options.

1. Carry on with no increase in premium, but, if the vehicle is damaged or stolen
and I have to claim they will only replace the wheels with standard Mazda ones.
or
2.Pay an extra 10% and they will replace my new wheels like for like.

They have amended my details to show that 17 inch after market alloys are fitted
and my insurance is valid with the new wheels.

Sorry forgot to mention, it would be worthwhile making sure that the details show a change in Size of wheels/tyres ( From manufacturers recommended) not just a change to Alloy wheels.

Good Luck.
