Could well be, you should change them if at all suspect. Check that the dump valve is moving and not stuck and also that all intercooler pipework is secure.

Hi. This is rather late for the post but I did the same thing -started the engine with a hydro lock. New Cyl Head on (as had cracked to let water in to begin with) and can't get rid of smoking exhaust. Went to town on timing correctly the cam and FIP and now got a distinct knocking noise.

My guess is a bent conrod. So question - can I put new conrods/bearings on in-situ please? I'm just challenged with the Crank pulley bolt being 350Nm tight !!
