indicators not working correctly when headlights on

Post by 1307EYRE » Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:45 pm

HI I have a 1999 mazda bongo 2.5 litre petrol automatic tintop.Recently the battery went flat and i recharged the battery i have the following issue.The bongo starts and runs fine and everything works including the indicators .However when i put the headlights on the indicators do not work correctly With the engine running and 14.4 volts coming from the alternator when i put the headlights on the right green indicator light on the dashboard stays on permanently and when i try to put the left indicator on the green indicator light on the dash stays on once then goes off.I assume it is an earth issue but wondered where to look first Everything else seems to work but only an issue when the headlights are on Any advice appreciated .thanks Adrian

Check the front earthing points, sounds very much like several dodgy earth connections the ones at the front of the vehicle are most likely, but as several of the earthing points have there own direct connections between earthing tags it usually means several of the earthing points have corroded and now all of them no longer have a good connection to the chassis, the earthing points are shown on the wiring diagrams in circled numbers see below - if you use Chrome then you will need to enable Flash for the site;
