Engine Cranking but not starting. Video

Post by surfkernow » Tue Feb 22, 2022 8:09 pm

Hi, I replaced my cylinder head, and I am having trouble getting the Van to start. The engine will crank, but not fire. See video.

I have checked all the vacuum and fuel pipes are connected. Fitted new glow plugs, and just fitted a new fuel filter.

Following some old posts, similar to mine, I loosened off one of the injectors, and no fuel was released, as I cranked the engine. I am guessing I should see fuel?

Before I replaced the head, I was experiencing similar starting issues, and noticed there was a leak on my fuel pump. I didn't want to address this at the time, as I wanted to know if my Cylinder head was cracked, before I threw more money at my Van.

I am looking for troubleshooting steps, what to check etc, if anyone can advise?

Thank you

Injector Video

It appears to crank a lot easier with one of the injectors loosened

Have you checked battery power, it seems to be cranking slowly imo, give it an overnight charge and try again but you will have to get that fuel flowing obviously. I barely turn the key and mines fired up.

Are you getting 12v to the stop solenoid on the pump? Can you hear/feel the solenoid open?
Yes id doesent sound like its turning over that fast, I'm assuming the battery is weak from repeated starting attempts?
Does your fuel filter housing have a hand primer on it? i believe some do? if so try pumping it.
