Very warm welcome.

Re: New to the Forum – Excited to Learn More About Bongos!
Hello everyone and an even bigger hello to those that were on here many years ago when I was last here.
I can’t remember my user name back then but I’m Mel and I remember members names such as Dabs, Bigdaddycain, Mikeon4bc.
I had a Ford Freda N255END, not sure if she’s still knocking about. Bought it in 2006. Had her for around 5 years or so.
Anyway, fast forward to 2024 and here I am looking at bongos again. I’m a little rusty on the knowledge so my plan for this miserable weather day today is to brush up on my knowledge.
I’m looking at a 52 Petrol AFT, fully converted tomorrow. Is there anything that stands out I need to be aware of for tomorrow please?
Sending a big warm hello to those that supported me way back then

Welcome back !
For a newer vehicle you still need to check for rust at the back of the panels and make sure it has been undersealed, hopefully dated information that shows it was done on import and not years later once the road salt has got into the cracks! Also check for previous damage to panels professionally repaired which makes it difficult, but these too can be a source of later problems.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I’ve made a note of that to add to my list.
Is it worth getting an RAC inspection also?

Re: New to the Forum – Excited to Learn More About Bongos!
If they will do them, there used to be restrictions on the age of vehicles they would inspect same with AA, I suspect they think there is likely to be a much greater risk of missing things when the vehicle is already that age!
