Annoying beep when key not in ignition

Post by Bingo Bongos » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:14 pm

Hi I've just had a connection repaired on my battery because I had an intermitent fault with starting my bongo. The garage said it was a loose connection.

Since then when the key is not in the ignition there is a continuous ( I mean 24/7) beeping which is really getting on my nerves.

Any ideas I suspect something has not been put back right but we can't figure it out. The beep is coming from underneath the steering wheel area.

Don't know what it is, but try disconnecting battery - this may reset the system and stop beep when reconnected (bit like re-booting a computer).

the beeper is by the side of the drivers right foot. You can just unplug it till you sort out the cause of the beeping. It will do no harm to disconnect it.

I couldn't stop an intermittant beep in my bongo a week or so ago until I removed my mobile phone with a low battery warning from the glove compartment  H

Remote control ignition starter

Post by Bingo Bongos » Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:49 pm

Finally found cause of beep! Took the trim apart to follow guidelines to disable all beeps and found the beep coming from the LHS of the steering wheel. The remote control ignition starter is has an intermittent fault on it so we disconnected it and the beeping stopped. Hope this helps anybody else who has a problem like this.

Has anybody else had problems with the remote ignition starter and are they easy to repair/replace?

What the hell is a remote control ignition starter unless its one of those things that allows you to start the Bongo from your bedroom and while still in your underpants. If it is, I really fancied one of those

Yep is it a lazy remote control so you can get the engine started to warm your bongo up on a cold morning so it's nice and toasty. Unfortunately haven't got to try it as although the dealer said it was an intermitent fault and put it down to needing new batteries in the remote, we have replaced the batteries and not got it to work. The dealer did say he would look at it again when a couple of interior trim parts are delivered that didn't arrive in time for us to pick our Bongo up.

I saw a couple when we went around the car dealers looking for Bongos one was definitely not factory fitted so it must be available as an add on device.

Yes it is Bingo Bongos - someone on BF emailed me a link to where you could buy them (illegal though they are). You can (in theory) get up to all kinds of tricks like remote locking, turbo timer, elec windows up, mirrors retract etc. on getting out, and reverse sequence when you are starting out. I love the idea of it, but the general consensus was it might be tricky. But the remote starting sounds like great fun for those cold mornings, legal considerations aside 8) 8)
