condensation in fog light

Post by AndAndDen » Sun Apr 29, 2007 2:01 pm

Fog light bulb blown, due to condensation or rain in the fog light fitting. When i took the rubber off the back there was an accumalation of water in the rubber ,Does this mean the unit is caput ,or can it be repaired and resealed :? . The other fog light is ok .

Check the rubber grommet at the back of the light too andanden... you can use silicone sealent, or insulation tape at a push...

Hi got the fog light working, now i need to take the front lense of due to cr--p on the lense i've taken the clips off sprayed a bit of wd-40 around the area still wont budge so rather than do any damage to the brittle plastic any suggestions please? Andy

Hi andy, is there any sign of a little cutout, or depression in the plastic where it can be pinched or maybe ease a little flat headed screwdriver into, to gently prise off the lens?

bigdaddy no cutout or anything in the plastic. So rather than damage it i decided to take the fitting off the front to get a good look at it. Took the lamp and the lamp holder out and gave the lense a good clean from the back of the fitting.Looks alot better now. Cheers Andy :D
