did you get it fixed, please update us

Hi Frankie,
What a time I've had with the electrics !! I could not find the fuse that was mentioned by you, but I did get the auto electrician to sort the problem...on Tues. I set off for my first overnught stay on a site in Threshfield, Skipton. A lovely place ..Wood Nook, would highly recommend here. Used all my onboard new conversion/stuff...all great. Fell in love with my bongo all over again... Then tried to start the engine to go home....NOTHING.......batteries empty!!!!!!. Got a jump start/got home ok. On way discovered the yellow warning scroll/wire light was back on again + the red warning door open light was back on :(
I was so upset and very down, wondering if my trip would ever take place; I even considered selling the bongo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later telephoned the auto electrician again. He came today and informed me that It did not have a split level converter....and that it had been wired to my main battery just as a second battery.............AND it is not a leisure battery, just a normal one. Hence when using lights/socket etc it drained both batteries at the same time !!
I am now going to contact the firm who first fit the conversion/fit battery/tray and give them a chance to explain why the poor fitting. Also the actual unit [chipboard] has broken away from its rear bolt fixing, taking a chunk of the unit with it.
I now have a split relay fitted and had more fuses changed...again.
Fingers crossed that this works ??????????? I must now do another overnight to test it again.

Thanks for your interest Frankie. There is another post from achap who is an auto electrician[forget his name just now!], so hopefully all the info that has come across re this problem will be of some help to others.
Will inform the whole site re the name of this 'conversion' firm if they do not respond tp my complaint appropriately.

Cheers

Re: electrical advice- maybe

As someone who diagnoses electrical/ system faults i know it is virtually impossible to do it over the phone line unless i know the full history and a a step by step sequence of events as to what wiring changes were carried out and even then it may prove difficult without the wiring digrams (available from the club for about a tenner).
so where to go from here. Hopefully your auto electrician will solve things but before he arrives create a check sheet listing all items that work correctly and those that don't. check every fuse to be ok (one at a time and make sure the correct fuse goes back into the correct holder). and look for any loose connections or cables that dont appear to connect anywhere under the dashboard- a word of warning though dont do anything with them until they are identified as being spare cables for optional extras etc. but just identify them prior to the auto electrician arriving as they are all paid by the hour and anything you can do to speed up the diagnosis will save you money. once again without actually being ther its difficult to give any further advice. perhaps another Bongo owner nearby will let you look at his Bongo to see if its the same as yours for wiring etc ( it may show something obvious) best of luck, if you get nowhere get back in touch.
Hi John,
Many thanks for you suggestions/advice. If you read the response I have made to Frankie, all will become clearer. I am fervently hoping that the 'problem'has now been sourced,so will have to wait and see again.
Will post any response I get from the conversion firm.

Cheers
