Hi,

I am a newbie Bongo owner, took ownership today of "Murdoch", black N reg auto freetop diesel etc etc.
I've joined the club and already am learning loads, thank you ! However a few things I cannot find an answer to.

Firstly, I like to have a warm feet when driving, and I can't figure out how to make it happen. I "think" I need to turn on ac and push the up botton for the temp. and then select the picture that shows air blowing down, is that right ?????
Next, when I get over 30 mph, the wind whistles though the blowers, can I stop it ? I couldn't see how to close them. And finally, is there a reasonably (take that as cheap) priced radio that fits in as if factory made ? I can't listen to Chris Evans every day, I remember him first time round and it just makes me feel old !

Oh no, one more thing, are the reversing mirrors standard ? I don't have one.

Hi Plum.
Here goes.
1 Heater... Yes, like you said, except you dont need to press ac. that is just to cool you, not toastie warm.
2 Vents... They should only blow if they are selected. its the picture of the horizontal arrow. Try pressing the recirculated air button.it is a car with a curved arrow. I think top left button.
3 Stereo... Any modern stereo will fit if it comes with a cage or bracket. All stereos are a standard single din size. If you have a really big stereo in your Bongo, then its a double din size. i.e. Twice the depth of a single stereo.
You can buy a little din cubby of ebay or Bongobits to fill the gap. So as cheap goes, take your pick.

If you pay your tenna and join the club, you get loads of factsheets and helpful info in the members section. I reckon that just one tip that saves you breaking something has gotta be worth a tenna.

p.s. Reversing mirrors... Most come with them, but you can get them from Bellhill breakers, link on homepage.
Loads of people knock em off when attempting to use drive through car washes.

You can get double din stereos on e-bay, but they usually have to have a band expander fitted to them to be able to get uk stations...

Fantastic, thank you for answering all my queries. I have paid my ten quid and joined the club.
Now I just need to go and fiddle with Murdoch and get things right. I'm starting to feel like a teenager with his first car, I really wanna pimp my bongo !

Wonder if that's normal for a woman nearing 40 .............................

Great to see some feisty lady Bongo owners. I used to fly gliders and plenty of women flew them. Its great to transcend the sexual barrier (or any other barrier) with a shared passion. Are you listening world.

Thank you for the welcome, I feel quite normal now

I changed the radio and then realised I have no aerial , whoops ...............

Now Murdoch is being very temperamental with his starting, sometimes he fires up first time and other times he just clicks, then he starts. I've searched the forums and clinic and diagnose either battery too small or something starter motor related.
Am I on the right lines or could it be something else ? He is under warranty, and when I take him back I would like to be able to speak like I know whats what !

I wonder if its a starter motor problem (solenoid? cant remember). Its a topic that has cropped up on here before. Rather than expensive replacements, some members have done well (and describe how to) stripping down and cleaning up. Expect one of the will be along to advise shortly but try 'Search' to see what you can find.

Sounds like a duff solenoid. If it's under warranty you should just get a new starter motor.
