Smoke from Aircon! Help...

We have had dense black smoke coming out of our aircon vents!
I had just moment before turned the temp down and switched on...
I switched the aircon off and the Bonog got us 70 miles home...no problems.
I am scared to switch it back on...any one had problems like this?

What kind of a smell was it? Electrical? Exhaust gas? Rubber? Might help us assess whats happening.

It smelt a bit like an old hairdryer that has not been on for a while!
It was sort of reminiscent of 'burnt something' but not quite sure....
It did look like it was on fire thought to be honest!!

get it checked by an electrician

You just can't take chances, even if it is something small and not dangerous is it realy worth it

I wonder if you heater fan is seizing and burning out the resistor. A classic problem if so - try Search and you'll find lots of advice. Dont use teh fan until you've had inspected it and checking it is running freely - easy to do the check. Good luck
