Snowdonia In Springtime.

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Snowdonia In Springtime.

Post by mister munkey » Sat Oct 11, 2008 5:55 pm

I'm looking at setting up a bash at the foot of Snowdon around mid April, based here.

http://www.snowdonia-park.co.uk/

Interesting thing about this spot (apart from the fact its a pub with a campite in the garden, of course!) is its also a station on the narrow guage West Highland Railway, running from Caernafon Castle down to (almost) Porthmadog where it meets up with the Festiniog Railway.

http://www.festrail.co.uk/

I say almost because the work to re-open the line is 90% finished, "due to be completed early next year".

Its a good site, great pub, massive breakfasts, tons to do & see round there too. Walk up Snowdon & get the train down, visit Portmerion & be not a number but a free man, lots of castles to explore, the slate caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog is a good day out too if the weather is shitty. Plus ample opportunity for lots of steam train rides too!

With the right crowd, this could be legendary!!

Any takers to get the ball rolling??

Nice choice of site MM, unfortunatly dates no good to us, as I know we'll not be able to do April at all 2009. Have they got a date for the opening of the new railway? As we may visit later in the year.

Looking at March 13th/15th now to accommodate the ever expanding Mrs Headroom, (although I can think of worse places to give birth) .

C&A: Been before a couple of times. It really is a great spot, the pub is a microbrewery too!!

Mr Holman: They're looking at getting the passenger services running for Easter at the moment, but I may be able to use a bit of influence to hitch a ride on a "test unit" before its officially open.

Dabs: Good on yer!

In the summer they have to limit numbers a bit but AFAIK, out of season, they're glad to get the extra business!

I've tried ringing, can't get them on the fone until tomorrow but will confirm then.
