Just use the AA Route planner http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp and put from your postcode to CW5 8HG :D

Just south of Liverpool Stevie. The other side of the River Mersey facing Liverpool used to be part of Cheshire when I was a kid. Now that they have mucked up the boundrys a la Strathclyde it is now a part of Merseyside, still plenty of Cheshire left though. Just go straight down the M74/M6 and when you get over the big bridge over the River Mersey on the M6(Thelwall Viaduct) you are in the real Cheshire. Starts a bit further north than that now since they have taken Warrington out of Lancashire and put it in Cheshire. :?

Looks like an excellent+++ contender Cabte - well done for flagging it up. The location is well placed for a lot of real loveliness in the SW part of Cheshire (Beeston Castle, Nantwich, Audlem, Delamere Forest, Tarpoley etc. all an easy and pleasant drive away).

Hope Ian de Bongomeister is reading this as - subject to confirming the site is suitable - the location looks perfect. 8)

Good site! However, geographically it is fairly close to Stourport-on-Severn, and I want a larger geographical spread for the meetings, so would prefer a site in the north of the county.

Shady Oak is a good site, but I fear that 30 Bongonauts would overwhelm the limited facilities. And Elm Cottage will take rallies, but there is no toilet or shower block on the rally field, and it only has 12 hook ups.

The search continues.

I can understand your concern but I wonder if it really matters that much. People come to Stourport because they want to come to Stourport. Unless Nantwich was right on top of Stourport then I don't think it will have much influence as its a different locality. What does influence me (can't speak for others but...) is that a site that we are going to use as early as March has half a chance of being sheltered from the cold winds can still be about at that time (and both Cartmel and Caister had some of that!). That part of Cheshire might do quite well on that score.

When you say North part of Cheshire, where are you thinking of (Macclesfield area maybe?). Certainly the Goyt Valley is very scenic and might be worth researching, though there is more risk of wind, snow and ice at the higher altitude there.

It was because I spent a good couple of hours this morning looking at ukcampsite.co.uk, reading my Cades directory, Googling etc etc, but I couldn't find anywhere large enough in North Cheshire to meet our requirements.

Also, Mike's point about shelter from the wind is a good one.

I am due to phone the site tomorrow lunch time to try and reassure them we are not a bunch of drunken hooligans  . Wish me luck.

If its still the same owner he seems a good guy.
I was trying to find a site for the bash we had a new year and was finding it hard.
This site is open all year round, but the pub was closed xmas day and new years day but he said if we went in the pub he would open it up for us,,
Not many pubs would do that .
good luck.
