Starting problem!!!
Hello
Fellow bongo owner has a problem with starting his bongo. Could this be the relay?
Turns key, waits for heater light to go out (with click) Turns key to start but nothing happens, tries again 4/5 times then starts no problem. What can this be Plugs/Starter/Relay?
Thanks John

Re: Starting problem!!!
When you say nothing happens, do you mean it turns over & doesn't catch, or just nothing? Is there a clicking at all when he turns it to start? If so it could be the battery is low which could be the alternator, or the starter motor is dead, in which case you can replace the contacts.
This thread will point you in the right direction on the starter contacts http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ts#p326728

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Starter motor contacts then I reckon, mine did that for a week or 2, intermittent starting, before giving up completely - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... r+contacts

Re: Starting problem!!!
If you have time, try cleaning the contacts, it worked for me till the new contacts and plunger arrived.
Ours stopped suddenly, and no matter how many times I tried to start it, it would'nt go, and with ours being used every day, it would be a disaster to wait for days for the parts to come.( Joys of living in the Highlands) so I striped it down and cleaned with wet&dry, and manipulated the contacts a smudge.
Theres a link on here somewhere to the Youtube clip of striping a bongo starter.
All the best.
