Shuttleworth Trust, Old Warden, Autumn Air Display, 4/10/09

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Shuttleworth Trust, Old Warden, Autumn Air Display, 4/10/09

Post by Ron Miel » Mon Oct 19, 2009 12:04 pm

widdowson 2008, at http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 50#p346341, was kind enough to ask for some more photos, after I posted some from Old Warden there - so here's a few. More to follow.

Hopefully other aviation buffs will enjoy. Strongly recommend Bongoing along to Old Warden for one of their brilliant displays, next year:

Nice photos, I must agree that the show was very good, especially being able to park so near to the display.

Catch you soon

Superb pics =D>

Really must get myself down to Old Warden. Not been since c1985.

Some glider pilots from Oxford Gliding Club used to elect to fly their Silver distance (first cross country) to Old Warden, having checked the airfield wasn't operating on the day they opted to go. One pilot I talked to had done this and been a bit shaken up to arrive at Old Warden and find himself in the company of vintage aircraft buzzing around - woops! He had to take himself off a little way and find himself instead a suitable farmers field to land in (quite tricky on your first cross country)

Thanks everybody. I enjoyed taking them, so it's nice to hear that other peeps got something from them too. I'll try to stir up a mini-meet there next year, once they publish their programme of displays. It's also very worthwhile visiting at other times. There's a great museum of really vintage aircraft, right back to Bleriot, Deperdussin and others, a good little restaurant, a bird of prey centre, swiss garden, country house and, as Mike's friend found out, there's usually some sort of interesting flying going on :-)

Wow, they are SUPERB pictures!

Coincidentally I thinking of setting up a Midlands Mini Meet at RAF Cosford if anyone is tempted, just awaiting dates from the museum, hopefully to get own bit of meeting space etc.

Good luck with that, Graham and Julie. If you mean the RAF Museum at RAF Cosford and soon, as opposed to the RAF Cosford air display next summer, we'll not be able to join you, I'm afraid, much as we would like to. I'm just starting a series of three leg ops, which are going to restrict mobility for a while - hopefully, all done and dusted in time for next year's active Bongoing though. Glad you liked the pix meanwhile :)

Sorry to hear that, I did mean the Museum and it would be in the next few months.

Good luck with the ops.

Pictures were excellent, I grew up near Biggin Hill so it brought back memories of the air shows.

To be honest. I've been there twice in recent months anyway. First op done Thursday, so that's one down, two (ankle and other knee) to go. Went very well, and home this p.m. - but going to be sore as hell for a bit
