Hi Flutch solenoidolks

Have been meaning to write this up for 6 months, as my membership lapses in 13 mins i'll do it now !

Problem i had, intermittent dropping out of top gear on a 2wd autobox R4A-EL type

Did the monitoring of the flashing HOLD light using the faheet 24 sept 2008, repeated and consistently came up fault 62 overunning clutch solenoid.

Changed trans fluid to no affect

Got in touch with JP Automatic Transmissions Ltd
Upper Langford
Somerset

They sent me part N194 35 01 Solenoid kit for £76.92
and using print out from pages 411 to 415 used the diagram to help replacing the solenoid pack.

Bit messy taking sump off
then splitting the lowr part of the valve module but then the pack is exposed
unplug solenoids
fit new unit
taking care with the springs which sit between the plates
lots & lots of fasteners to deal with
but i managed it ok
and its still running just fine

Don't be put off doing this task
did take images but not got time to upload

cheers John

Just cos your membership expires, doesn't mean you can't use the forum - it's free for anyone
Good to know it's not too difficult & it'd be good to see those pics :D

This is the same fault code ours came up with last week, its now up at ADS in Bristol who have quoted £395+vat to fix it. #-o

If I had the time or facilities I would have liked to have a go but my mechanical know how only stretches to the more basic DIY jobs and as were off to the Woodlands meet next weekend I needed to be sure it was sorted properly.
