As my heading says, my key fob will unlock my bongo no problem. But for some time it has been only intermittently been able to lock it and this has now worsened to the point that it hardly ever works.
I have not yet tried to replace the battery in the fob because the unlocking works fine.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or know what might be causing it?

Not knowing what type of fob you have for yours but what normally happens is dirt builds up on the contacts of the switch, some fobs have actual switches but most of them have rubber with a carbon layer on which connects 2 bits of the circuit board together when pressed. You can clean both sides lightly with a nail file emery type board and it should start working againNoggin wrote:As my heading says, my key fob will unlock my bongo no problem. Re: Key fob unlocks but won't lock
It's easier to unlock as gravity assists the mechanism in the lock maybe? check that the battery powering the locks in the bongo isn'y getting low & connections are ok, but I'd try changing the fob battery first.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Re: Key fob unlocks but won't lock
Ours doesn't work at all. We've just got our bongo and they didn't have spare batteries so they're sending us one. Have a feeling it may not just be the battery though. If it isn't is it possible to replace it and how do I know what one it is... is it written somewhere?Noggin wrote:As my heading says, my key fob will unlock my bongo no problem. Re: Key fob unlocks but won't lock
i looked at my fob, and can,t see how to open it if i needed to change the battery, mine may not be a standard bongo type as its fitted with a fairly secure alarm system.
so if the fob battery is not changable ,maybe its some sort of induction charging system when the key is in the lock.???
the security system is called a "viper " does anyone know the answer,

ok, I'll have a look at the contacts thing, it's odd as it's always been a bit twitchy but it's really got worse lately. I kinda wrote off the possibility of it being the batteries because the unlock button works every time.
