Electric Blinds and Radio Not Working

Post by dandemann8 » Sun May 23, 2010 12:56 pm

As it say's above for some reason they have both stopped working, I have a Willinton kit fitted. I've checked the voltage output from the radio and I'm only getting 5.6v which is strange as I used the original wiring to install radio. As for the blind's they should work from the Willinton but they don't work at all? Can anyone confirm the wiring into the fusebox of the Willinton Kit? Checked fuse's which appear to be OK. And now the remote locking has decided to join the party :( :( [-o< [-o< [-o<

Just checked LB and only throwing out 6.0v :( :( I'm going to go for a run around to see if I can get any charge into the LB then check again.

Hi,what voltage are you getting at your LB with the engine running?

Sounds like it could be the relay.

With the engine running only getting 6.4v :( , just been for a run but hasn't made much of a difference :( . Now got LB on charge so hopefully get blinds working [-o< . Could well be the relay so might need to contact Willinton. Not electrically minded so all advice very much appreciated. :D

Could be relay thats true or could be the radio is drawing too much charge from memory wire so flattening battery or bad earth so not charging correctly.

or a dead battery of course or inline fuses

test with engine running. engin off if its charging ok test inline for draw from radio etc if high start diconnecting everything until the faulty bit is found.

if not chargeing properly try reseating the earth and check the inline fuses either side of the relay

I would check the eath strap first as thats what mine was I had to remove the bolt and reseat it a few times as paint was stopping a good connection

Did you check the fuses are intact on the charging cable to the LB? May well have blown if it's got that low.

I have a similar issue with a Willinton kit - alt charge not getting to the L/B.

I checked that the S/B was getting a good 14(ish) volts with the engine running - proves the alternator etc. With the engine running or stopped, the L/B was reading 12.3v, no difference in either state. Both fuses in the lines S/B -> relay and relay -> L/B are OK. Wired in a temporary additional earth from the Willinton relay bracket to earth - no change. Confirmed that the L/B earth is good. Emailed these results to Martin and he is sending me a replacement relay. I suspect that the zener has blown. Been a few cases of these recently...

Drop Martin an email, and he will advise accordingly. Excellent service from him. ///

I can hear the kit click when I turn the key so something is activating, the kit was fitted towards the end of last year.

I had the same problem, and I found out from the previos owner that there was an external fuse alongside the main battery which would blow if the leisure battery drew too much from the main battery that it would not start the engine.
It is a 30 amp fuse.
Hope this helps

if having tested everything else and nothing new done to the system recently, I have to agree in the relay may be at fault
as a couple of these seam to have failed recently

The fuses Willinton uses now are like these ones http://www.rawcomponents.co.uk/catalogs ... 3&y=18&p=3 on the supply cabling, may not look like a fuseholder to some.
