sediment light

Hi the red light on the dashboard saying 'sediment' is on what does this mean?

On its own it signals gunge it the fuel filter. A straightforward 10 minute job to change.

If the Charge light comes on at the same time, expect a shot alternator.

If it is the only light that is on, the problem is easily sorted. Lift drivers seat, You will see the fuel filter. With an appropriate dish for collecting the dribbles, uncouple the wire connector that comes from the bottom of the filter - The light will now go out !!!

However, to sort the problem after taking the wire off undo the plastic turn srew at the base of the filter. There will be some liquid that will dribble into the dish. This will probably be water. after about 10 ccs has come out fasten up the plastic screw, re-connect the wires and .... if the problem was just sediment, the light will now go out.
