Central locking problem

Post by simon638 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:35 pm

Hi all,my 1996 bongo's central locking more often than not works when turning the drivers door lock with a key,but sometimes only the drivers door locks/unlocks.
Is there a common fault on bongos, where should I start looking for the fault?
thanks

Sounds like the old problem of broken wiring in the loom between the drivers door and the vehicle, plastic casing goes brittle n cuts through a few cables.

Do you have a liesure battery fitted?
If so then if this is flat or a fuse has blown you will lose central locking and a couple of other things.

I like the one about the extra battery, although I fitted that and only connected it to the fridge and water tap.
I will check the door wires,I know which ones you mean,I did give a quick wiggle last night but will check properly later, thanks.
It worked ok this morning as it always seems to fix itself,it seems to be affected with damp weather.
Since a very damp camping holiday 2years ago,lot of electrical things have played up,this is the latest episode.
I was wondering if there was a micro-switch in the door?

thereis a microswitch in the drivers door, but all it does is send a negative signal to the cdl unit to lock/unlock the other doors. give the loom a look over first.

Hi all those people that helped my locking problem.... It's now sorted,it was the wiring loom at the door hinge, and it was the blue, with a red stripe wire that was to blame, incase anyone would like to know.
