Electric Window failure
We are unable to open driver or passenger windows, both window switches are inoperable, I have checked fuse 14
and it is ok . I have also checked for 12volts on the drivers door switch without success, can anyone please suggest where the problem may be?
Thanks, Mike.

Re: Electric Window failure
Check the wiring in the drivers door jam...... Often a cause.... Broken wire(s) happen there....

Re: Electric Window failure
Mine does that as well.
Passenger side, make sure the switch on the drivers door is in the right place.
Drivers side, is the same as the sliding door, bang it in the right place, just at the side of the switch unit.
Hope it works for you as well.

yep can bet your life its the dreaded loom, so fiddly too, be careful the wires are so thin it is easy to break others.

Re: Electric Window failure
My switches packed up. Not cheap to replace but at least I didn't have to pay an auto electrician to muck about with the loom (they didn't pack up simultaneously - the passenger side one went about eight months before the driver's side and I didn't bother fixing it because I could open and close it from the driver's side).

Re: Electric Window failure
Odd if they both failed at the same time though, if thats the case the loom in the doors, although the most common cause, might well be a red herring.

Re: Electric Window failure
Just thought, it's not the locking button thingy on the driver's door, is it?

What year did they start putting red herrings in the door.
I thought it was the dog that smelled.

It's the earth wire.. I'm surprised you didn't get a slight buzz from the switch when it was working'ish...? Giving the impression of a dodgy switch!francophile1947 wrote:Black it was - broken clean through, even the insulationHow it ever worked is amazing
