Help with identifying water pipe please

Post by bongomadness » Fri Jun 18, 2010 9:02 am

well i managed to get my water pipe...............only to find i got the wrong one(trust a woman to get it wrong .)
After looking at the diagram for the cooling system i am still not sure which one i need.I know where it is on the van and can explain where it joins this hose etc all day so thought if i posted a picture on here then somebody could tell me which one it corrosponds to on the diagram.
this is the pipe.drivers side, about 2cm diamatermax, has a hanger at one end probably one in the middle and runs up to the front of the van that has a hose on the end and goes off somewhere.????? the other end has a hose on it plus a second hose that goes on a kind of spigot thing.
I hope this makes sense but i am desperate to get this all sorted out..............life is boring with the bongo off the road :(

sorry about quality of picture but i had to use my mobile. As you can see it all looks pretty yuk under there but that was from the water splattering everywhere. It looks like under the bonnet most of the hoses have been replaced but back here i think there are these two plus this metal pipe that need replacing.
Hope somebody can help me out here please.
Jayne..............Sad her bongo is so lifeless!!!

Right i have found the correct pipe and hoses in the heating
diagram i think the water pipe is part number 61-2d1
hoses are 61-211A,61-213 and 61-211

Does that look right to you ??

Well am happy that i have ordered the right pipes and hoses, will be replacing the stat ...just in case but wondered why these pipes in the heating system are not linked up with the cooling system ??? after all they are still linked in with the engine. Beats me but at least now all i have to do is wait for it all to come and hopefully the van will be back trundling along to great places once again.
As a quick after thought would this hose contribute to a cracked head........

If this pipe split it wouldn't necessarily cause the head to fail.
I haven't read through all your posts, so I don't know if your engine has overheated.
Failure of the head is most likely to occur when the engine overheats. If the pipe split and the engine didn't overheat, it could be OK. :)
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth

Unfortunately it did overheat .well the gauge went to 1 o'clock so i had a mile to limp home. Will find out when all the new pipes and hoses are fitted and new stat .The mechanic that is gonna do the job will pressure test the system so fingers crossed eh. I still have diff to sort out at some stage plus i noticed a bit of knocking in the steering when turning the wheel so i dare say there is something to be done there as well. All major pimping is now on hold until the mechanics of our van have been sorted out.
When they have all been done I will then be giving BDC a run for his money lol........even if it is next year!!
Will let you know how how the pressure test pans out in a few weeks.
