Clunk in Suspension

Post by Davo » Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:47 pm

Hi, my Bongo has developed a clunking noise in what I think is one of the front suspension springs or shock absorbers.

The noise only happens when I change direction and then apply the brakes. ie I stop, select reverse, and as I apply the brakes there is a clunk.

Similarly, when I then move forward and apply the brakes, it clunks again. It doesn't happen again, even over bumps or when braking, until I use reverse.

The mechanic says it is the spring or shock absorber settling back into position and that it is nothing to worry about...

Anyone else had this?

Could it be play in the brake caliper mounts.
Could also be loose.

Ours both cluncked and clicked before the the brake 'wear markers' were fixed.
