Bridgwater Carnival?

Post by Bob » Thu Aug 05, 2010 8:55 pm

Anyone interested in Bridgwater Carnival? It's Friday 5th Nov, or possibly we could do North Petherton, which is the following day so perhaps easier for those travelling some way.

I think we mulled this over last year but a little late to book anywhere.

Does anyone know a campsite in walking distance to either route? That way we could pitch up in the afternoon, before the road closures, wander down to watch the display, perhaps take some refreshment, and walk safely back to the Bongos.

Another interested. I would love to join up with a group for this. More fun.

Shame the campsite in the Mirror Offer at Bridgewater excludes the 4-15th November. This suggests it might be good for the Carnival though. :?: This is Fairways International Touring and Camping Park, Bath Road, Brawdrip, Bridgewater. Anyone local know anything about it?

Bawdrip is about 4 miles from the town. Probably a bit too far to walk back. :(

I can tell you that our local expert is doing some behind the scenes head scratching for this one, but if anyone knows a campsite in walking distance of Bridgwater town centre, or North Petherton, which may be better as it's Saturday night, we'd be pleased to hear about it.

Thanks. :D

With the help of a team of experts (Aitch) here's a campsite:

http://www.somersetview.co.uk/

Looks OK. North Petherton is a few miles south of Bridgwater so could be suitable to get the bus into town on Friday afternoon, well before kick off, or North Petherton carnival is Saturday 6th.

Pretty much the same carts on a smaller route and it would be possible to walk to NP from the campsite, and Saturday is likely to be better for those working.

Site owner is asking £22 per night at carnival time, double normal rate, but it's 'Supply and Demand.

I'm not certain Mrs B will authorise this much for one nights camping so close to home so recommend booking direct with site if interested, otherwise if it's small numbers we can stay at Panda Towers and either drive down for the evening or train it to Bridgwater on the Friday.

Mmmml! £22. Much as I'd like to I think I'd better bow out of this one. Got a busy couple of months coming up and i need to watch the pennies.

My view is £22 per night is a bit dear, anyone know a cheaper site?

Hi all still looking to see what I can come up with but as carnival time is high on the agenda here in Somerset all the sites I have asked "pump" the prices up - will keep looking and see what I can do - will post again if a better price can be found.
Be nice to everyone they might be nice back.
