Emergency AFT not opening & on the way on holiday. Help!!!

Post by longwori » Sat Sep 11, 2010 4:48 pm

Hi I hope someone can help. I am just on the way up to Scotland and called in at my parents to show them my new Bongo. I was proudly about to demonstrate the AFT, started the engine and pressed the button to raise the roof and nothing happened. No beeping, nothing.

I have checked the fuse according to the member fuse list and its ok.

Any ideas? I will need to sleep there tonight ideally!

Thanks, any suggestions are welcome, please just post anything you think could be the issue no matter how off the wall !!

I wasnt around the last time was raised and lowered. My girlfriend was demoing it to someone but she said there were no problems.

I'll check for replies from my phone when I get further north.

Handbrake on?

Check you have a handbrake warning light on the dash - if not the wee switch at the back of the handbrake (under the centre console) might be playing up.

Thankyou so much for the replies. I thought it just needed to be in Park. I didnt realise the handbrake should be on. Panic over - its working!!!

Thanks so much for the replies.

Now, if I can get the fridge to run as I am driving (which it should be doing) I could have a cold beer!

Thanks again - Now emailing from Killin which is a beautiful place.

Well im up in Scotland for the week. Killin was great last night and there were fireworks at 10pm too which was a bonus. Today I bagged a couple of munros and the weather was great. The views were ace.

I am now parked up next to a small Loch (wild camping) just off the main A9 to Inverness, not far from Aviemore. I can hear the rain on the roof though so it may be a driving day rather than hiking tomorrow. I have a week up here so my plans are to cut across to the west after Inverness and work my way down. If im feeling brave I may have a crack at Ben Nevis.

Just to top off a great day, I have managed to fix (temporarily anyway) a problem I have had with the fridge since I bought the Bongo. It was suppose to run when the engine was running but it never did. Tonight I found a scotchblock that wasnt properly connected to trigger the relay to power the fridge. I have stuffed the trigger in the rear wiper fuse connection for now and it works! Fantastic! My milk, yoghurts and more importantly beer will finally be chilled after the next leg of the tour.

Cheers everyone.

Now that would've been some drive. But beer is beer and it has to be cold!

Weather is crap today. Glad I'm not in a tent.
